Obituary of Mary Kelling
Longtime Kanorado, Kansas resident Mary Aleen Gravener Kelling, passed away on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at the Clearwater Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Clearwater, Kansas. She was 84 years old.
Mary was born on February 26, 1927 in Hoxie, Kansas to Charles F. Gravener Sr. and Zoe Elsie (Dewey Hapes) Gravener. When Mary was little, the family moved to a farm south of Brewster, Kansas, and she attended Brownville School until high school. She attended high school at Colby High School and graduated in 1945.
On November 10, 1952, Mary and Maynard (Bud) L. Kelling were united in marriage in Raton, New Mexico. To this union, two children were born; Michael Leroyce and Dena R.
Mary worked for the Great Western Sugar Beet Plant as a scale lady in the 1970s. She also worked at Kampers Liquor Store in Goodland for many years.
She is preceded in death by parents, her husband Bud, her son Michael, three half brothers and three half sisters.
She is survived by her daughter Dena Barker of Clearwater, Kansas, three grandchildren; Kristen, Nick and Dustin, four great grandchildren; Nichole, Kyra, Hailey, and Serenity. She is also survived by her brother Charles F. Gravener, Jr. and his wife Madeline of Colby, Kansas, and a sister Elsie Marie Snyder of Wheatridge, Colorado.
