It is difficult to put into words my feelings of deep sadness on Andy's departure. He was a dear friend that I have know for over 30 years. I knew Andy on a professional level in the Farm Credit System wherein he served in numerous capacities as a director on its institutions that I examined and regulated as the FCA examiner. Even after I became the Chief Examiner in Washington DC (1996-2005) I would often seek Andy's wisdom of what the real world was like outside DC where it meant the most. Andy had a very profound deep sense of wisdom that was indispensable to the stewardship needed directing a financial institution. There is no doubt in my mind that Andy was one of the very BEST directors that I ever met. And it was my good fortune to have had the opportunity and privilege to befriend and work with an individual of his caliber and statue. Andy was surely one of the greatest leaders of the Farm Credit System and his wisdom will be dearly missed. I am certain there will be many days ahead when people will pause and think as they so often did: "What would Andy say?" Goodbye my dear friend.

In salute to one of my favorite cousins. He always kept us in stitches of laughter and genuinely cared what you had to say. Forever loved how Joan and Andy always made you feel "right at home", just like Uncle Glenn and Aunt Margaret did. Heartfelt prayers to all of you ... I am sorry that our weather prevents us from making the drive to be with you, but know that you will be on our minds and in our hearts throughout today ... and in the weeks to come as you make adjustments in Andy's absence. With many great memories and much love to all.

The most important memory I have of Andy is how kind he was to me and as far as I know, everyone else he came into contact with. I also remember his optimism and his 'git er done' attitude. I will miss him. He was truly one of the 'Good Guys' in white hats.

OPEN INVITATION
Posted: January 1, 2014 | Last Revised: January 1, 2014
Uncle Glenn and Aunt Margaret's house was a "Gathering Place" throughout the years. Always has been and I suspect always will be. I loved all our times going to family dinners, picnics, parties, etc. at their farm. With a family the size of the Rector kin, there was always a reason to get together and celebrate.
When Andy and Joan bought the farm, the OPEN INVITATION to come and dine, stay awhile, visit around the table continued with them. No matter the hour or how long you stayed. They always made you feel "right at home!" When Eric and I stopped over the Fall of 2010 ... Andy and I got into a lively discussion about who my first and second grade teacher had been at Agate. I thought it was Mrs. Robertson. He thought it was Ms Richards. We hashed that over a bit ... and every so often, throughout the rest of our evening there, he'd try to catch me off-guard, interjecting a name of a teacher, trying to get me to admit he was right! (lol) Andy had lots of charm with his teasing manner. He's just one of those guys that's fun and easy to talk with. And Joan ... she's one of a kind. A real peach.

FOREVER IN OUR HEARTS
Eternity has whispered your name
And so you've gone as bidded,
Entering the Eternal as your rightful claim.
Go with our love, forever remembering
Your family, from whence you came.
In our hearts we hold the Gift of You-
Treasuring your charm, every laugh and smile!
And your gift of loving us all the while ...
Will keep us all together forever,
Close in heart, with the love we once knew.
Always know just how much we loved you!
