Doc Leverett was a friend of my father, Jim Statton. For many years, they read "The Great Books" and met at the Limon Library on Monday nights to discuss their reading. My dad consider Doc a good friends. When our beloved black lab, Smokey, had to be put down, dad took him to Doc. Together they put Smokey to rest and then buried him on a hll outside of Limon. To read of his passing reminds me of my father and the life we enjoyed in Limon growing up. Thank you Doc. Rest in Peace.

My condolences to the family i really enjoyed the 11 years i worked for them. Gene had a very dry scence of humor. But he was an excellent Veterinarian. We enjoyed teasing him when we got the opportunity. Rest in peace my friend. Laura & Fayelynne

My deepest sympathy to the family. I painted the family home last year and truly enjoyed working for Gene and Ruth. I also got to meet their Grandson Zach, he was pleasure to meet . Him and his son helped us paint and they repaired some things. May your memories comfort you all.

I think I met Gene in 1993..? I owe Gene a lot. I love Gene. He is the reason that I'm playing jazz guitar today. We played together every Thursday night for 10 or 12 years. I thoroughly enjoyed all the times we played together and our far ranging conversations with Ruth at their table. I've missed Gene and Ruth these past years after we stopped the Thursday nights. I will miss Gene more now. I thank God I got to know him.
P.S
I love that picture of him!

I was saddened to read about the passing of Dr. Leverett. I had a wonderful visit with Gene and Ruth a couple years ago at my mom's 95th birthday party in Limon. Whenever I'd happen to see them, we would always have a nice visit. Of course I always asked about Tina!! Cherish all of your memories. He will be missed for sure.
Prayers: Marilyn Lohmeier-Howland
