Obituary of Eleanor Pischke
Eleanor Aldine Pischke, known to everyone as Aldine, died Saturday, September 19, 2009 at the age of 95 after a very long battle with Alzheimerâs disease.
Aldine was born August 19, 1914, to Lonzo Thomas Farnworth and Eleanor Irene (Harrison) Farnsworth in Unadilla, Nebraska. The family moved to a farm north east of Burlington and Aldine attended first grade at a country school. She and her brothers and sisters walked to school or where driven by horse and wagon by their father. The family then moved to town when Aldine entered seventh grade. Her education continued in Burlington where she graduated from high school in 1933. After graduation Aldine worked at the hospital for Doctor Robinson and his wife.
On December 1, 1935, Aldine was united in marriage to George William Pischke. For the next six years they lived in nine different cities in Colorado, Oklahoma and Texas while George worked for an oil seismographic crew. Their son Ron was born during this time.
In 1941 George and Aldine moved to Cozad, Nebraska living in town and then later building a new home in the country where they farmed. Daughter Joyce was born while living in Nebraska. The family returned to Burlington, Colorado in 1955 where Aldine lived until her health caused her to move to Greeley, Colorado in 2001 where she remained until her passing.
Family and church were central to Aldineâs life. She taught Sunday School for more years than she could remember, carried out the duties of the Altar Guild, participated in the sewing group, and took part in the Women of the Church. She knitted many baby sweaters and tied numerous quilts for mission work. Aldine was a loving wife, caring mother and nurturing grandma. She loved all animals. When there was not a pet cat or dog in her house, she would feed the stray cats of the neighborhood. Her hands were never idle. Knitting or crocheting were always close and hand.
Surviving family members are her children: Ron Pischke of Buringlon, CO and Joyce Dechant and husband Rich of Evans, CO; three grandsons: Ross Pischke and wife Tracy of Burlington, CO, Brian Dechant and wife Amy of South Berwick, ME and Paul Dechant and wife Briar of Aurora, CO. Also surviving are her sister-in-laws: Alice Boyles and husband Bud of Denver, CO and Gladys Farnsworth of Burlington, CO and four great grand children: Devin Pischke, Dax Pischke, Drew Pischke and Orrin Dechant.
