Obituary of June Duell
Ina June Conarty, Short, Duell passed away December 17, 2009. She was born to Walt and Ina Kinzer Conarty. She was the youngest of eight children. She lived on a ranch south of Seibert and began the first grade in Flagler, Colorado. When she was in the 5th grade her dad was elected Kit Carson County sheriff and moved the family back to Burlington, when she was in the 6th grade the family moved back to the farm south of Seibert. She attended Second Central county school and graduated from Flagler High in 1937. She attended Colorado State Teachers College for 2 years and received her teaching certificate. She taught school at Second Central Liberty School and Victory Heights. She married Birney Eugene Short on March 30, 1944 in a double ring ceremony with her brother and wife June Conarty. To this union was born three children, Jerry, Sue and Jody.
She taught school for 35 years in Stratton, Seibert and Second Central. She retired in 1982.
She was preceded in death by both husbands, all of her siblings but 1, Georgia Martiney of Denver.
She loved children. She missed one of her goals which was to reach 90 which would have been on December 31, 2009.
