Obituary of Anna Mikita
Anna Louise Mikita, 98 of Calhan, Colorado passed away on January 22, 2016 at the Simla Good Samaritan Care Center, Simla, Colorado.
Anna was born May 16, 1917 to George and Mary (Homa) Sproch in Ramah, Colorado. She attended school through the 8th grade.
She married Andrew Mikita, Jr. on March 5, 1940 in Denver, Colorado. They moved to a farm north of Calhan where she resided for 73 years. Anna was a farm wife and mother for many years.
Anna was an active member of Rose Marie Club at St. Mary’s Holy Dormition Orthodox Church north of Calhan, Colorado along with being a choir member. She loved to sing, it seemed she was singing her entire live. She cooked hamburgers at the Calhan Cash Auction Market for over 20 years. She also crocheted many afghan’s for family and friends, even after her eyes had failed her, and each one was a treasure for all who received them.
Anna was preceded in death by husband Andrew Mikita, parents George and Mary Sproch, brothers; Joseph and Paul Sproch, nephews; Harvey and Harlan Sproch and infant grandson Jerry Mikita.
She is survived by son Harry Mikita, wife Pauline and family, grandson Daryl Mikita, grandson Kirk Mikita, wife Mary Beth and great grandsons; Zachary and Zayne and great granddaughter; Holly Stutzman, husband Gabe and son Rodger and grandson Jason Mikita, wife Becky. Anna is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She will be greatly missed.
