Obituary of Irene Hanisch
Irene Pearl Hanisch, 90, of Colorado Springs, Colorado passed away peacefully on January 24, 2016.
Irene was born on February 2, 1925 at the homestead which was the ranch house on middle Bijou Creek to Bert Allan and Ethel Pearl (Pascoe) Shirkey one of two daughters born to this union.
Irene married Kirk Moore and the couple was blessed with three sons. She was very busy with raising children and working alongside her husband on the ranch.
After Kirk passed away Irene met and married Edward Hanisch and the couple enjoyed their retirement years together. They enjoyed traveling and visiting friends and family.
Irene was a past Noble Grand in the Simla Rebekah Lodge, was a member of the American Legion Auxillary, and was employeed by the USDA for 18 years. She enjoyed quilting and received the Champion of Champions at the El Paso County Fair in 2009. In her later years she enjoyed making baby quilts for Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs and crocheted potholder by the dozens.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands; Kirk Moore and Edward Hanisch and one son, Eddie Moore.
She is survived in death by her sons; Donald (Vicky) Moore of Simla, Colorado and Ronald Ray Moore of Matheson, Colorado. Irene is also survived by her sister, Marjorie J. Hendricks of Riverton, Wyoming, 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren along with nieces nephews and many friends. Irene will be sadly missed.
