Obituary of Sylvia Fletcher
Sylvia Jean Fletcher, 63, of Highlands Ranch, CO, died August 16, 2010 at Vi at Highlands Ranch Care Center due to complications from the long-term effects of radiation treatments.
Sylvia was born March 31, 1947 in Stratton, CO. She is the daughter of Albert Copley and Helen Mae Fruhling Copley Lewis, and was adopted by Dean Lewis.
Sylvia married Edward J. (Jim) Fletcher, Jr., at the Fort Carson Artillery Chapel, in Colorado Springs, CO on July 16, 1972.
Sylvia had one sister, Deanna Mae Lazzara. She grew up in Flagler, CO where she went to grade and high school. She was the Homecoming Queen and a cheerleader for Flagler High School. Sylvia was selected for and attended Girls State. She went to Colorado State University for 2 years, earning a certificate in Secretarial Training. Sylvia worked as a legal secretary and legal assistant for most of her adult life. Her final profession was in Human Resources at Woodward-Clyde Corporation, an international engineering company. While there, she was awarded the only Certificate of Appreciation, signed by every HR Manager worldwide, that they have ever presented.
Before marrying, Sylvia lived in Grand Junction, CO and Colorado Springs, CO. After marrying, she continued to live in Colorado Springs then lived for more than 3 years in Germany where she enjoyed traveling in Germany and to Austria, Denmark, England, France, Greece, Holland, Spain and Switzerland. She lived in York, PA for a year then moved to Denver in late 1978. She lived in Denver or the Denver suburbs since.
She always enjoyed watching movies, football, basketball, and recently, golf. She enjoyed talk radio, oldies music and reading biographies and mysteries.
Sylvia is preceded in death by her father, Albert Copley.
Sylvia is survived by her husband, Jim, of Highlands Ranch, CO; her parents, Dean and Helen Mae Lewis, of Grand Junction, CO; her sister and brother-in-law, Deanna Mae and Raymond Lazzara, of Palm Beach, FL; her very good friends, Mary Ann and Gene Burrell, of Hendersonville, NC; childhood friend Jeanetta Pierce of Colorado Springs, CO; her Aunt Betty and Bob Trahern of Sterling, CO; and her Uncle Bob and Gail Fruhling, of Kingman, AZ.
