Obituary of Kenneth Liggett
Kenneth S. Liggett, 92, of Limon, Colorado passed away on September 1, 2010. He was born on July 20, 1918 to Harry J. and Edith (Sprecher) Liggett in El Dorado, Kansas an only child.
Kenneth graduated from Wichita East High School and then went on to Kansas State where he achieved an engineering degree then on to Wichita State University getting his business degree.
He married Gloria Townsend on September 13, 1953 in Hugo, Colorado, and they were blessed with two children. The family made Limon their home where Kenneth was involved in the family-owned bank, First National Bank of Limon.
Kenneth was very involved in this community, Masonic Lodge, Lions Club for 50 years, Colorado Bankers Association, Flying Farmers, American Bonanza Society, and the Experimental Aviation Association. He belonged to the Cessna 140 Association, Cessna 180 Association, was the past two-term mayor for the Town of Limon, sat on Town Council for twenty years, and cattle ranching. After retirement Kenneth and Gloria enjoyed their winters in Mesa, Arizona where he enjoyed flying, sailing and visiting friends and neighbors. He liked to ski and enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren in their many activities. Kenneth just really enjoyed life.
He was preceded in death by his parents Harry J. Liggett and Edith Liggett.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria Liggett of Limon, and their children Mike and his wife, Brenda Liggett of Limon and Kim and husband Dave Taussig of Limon. Kenneth is also survived by his grandchildren Michael and his wife Courtney Liggett of Pasadena, California, Tyson Liggett, Whitney Liggett, Laci Liggett, Gavin Liggett, Claire Taussig and Libby Taussig of Limon. He will be greatly missed by his family and many lifelong friends.
