Obituary of Joseph Bradley
Joseph Clifton Bradley was born on December 25, 1924 as the second son of Joseph Earl Bradley and Ada Bradley. He was born in the town of Fellsburg, Kansas.
Joe attended a one-room school house and completed the eighth grade there. He went to Kinsley High School in Kinsley, Kansas, graduating in May of 1941. He went to Friends University in Wichita, Kansas and Pratt Jr. College before going into partnership with his Grandpa Bradley on a farm and ranch in Lewis, Kansas.
On November 5, 1944, he was united in marriage to Eulalia Jewell Porter at Trousdale Methodist Church. They operated the ranch at Lewis until moving to Victor, Colorado where they operated a dairy farm. They had a daughter, Lois Ann, and later moved to Limon, Colorado where they were blessed with another daughter, Janice Jo and a son, Joseph David. After living in Limon, Colorado for 11 years, he moved his family to a ranch northeast of Kiowa, Colorado. Besides ranching, Joe also became a Colorado Farm Bureau Agent in 1957, serving for 41 years before retiring in 1998. He was highly respected by his fellow agents. After retiring, Joe and Jewell moved near Scottsbluff, Nebraska to be closer to their son, David and his family.
He loved the outdoors, working the land and the cattle. He was a Kiowa School Board member for 10 years and was on the Kiowa Town Council. He was a member of the Lions Club for 30 years. Joe was a faithful member of the Kiowa Presbyterian Church for many years. Joe belonged to the Elbert County and Douglas County Cattlemen for several years.
He was a true, loving and faithful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He loved to attend all of his childrens and grandchildrens activities and also helped many young and old in the community. His grandchildren and great- grandchildren were the loves of his life. Joe and Jewell have had permanent residence at Wel-Life Assisted Living facility in Scottsbluff, Nebraska for the past year and a half where in November they celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Charles, and his two lovely daughters; Janice Jo Bradley in 1961 and Lois Ann Rector in 1993.
Joe is survived by his wife, Eulalia Jewell Bradley. His son, Joseph David and wife Shelley Bradley. Son-in-law Donald Rector, grandchildren Marlene (Dan) Friend, Ed (Kelly) Rector, Kyle (Heidi) Bradley, Kobie Bradley, and Kaden Bradley; great-grandchildren Christa and Laura Friend, Taylor and Nicolina Rector, Cadence and Braydon Bradley. Joe is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends and neighbors.
