Obituary of Rose Mary Gergen
Lifelong Burlington, Colorado resident RoseMary (McCormick) Gergen took Paul's hand and departed from this life on October 15th, 2010 from her home in Estes Park, Colorado at the age of 86 years old with two wonderful caregivers by her side, preparing her for her journey.
RoseMary was born September 20, 1924, in Osmond, Nebraska to James L. McCormick and Irene (Zurchur) McCormick, one of seven children. She attended a country school, and graduated from Stratton High School. After graduation RoseMary attended Loretta Heights College, then joined the Military entering the WAC's (Woman's Army Corp) during World War II. After a honorable discharge from the WAC's. RoseMary came back to Stratton and taught school at the Stratton High School for a couple of years. During this time RoseMary's brother Joseph introduced her to Paul Gergen at a dance, they were married June 9, 1948 at St. Charles of Borromeo Catholic Church, Stratton, Colorado. This marriage was blessed with two daughters Paulette Mary, and Mary Michelle.
RoseMary with Paul at her side (always in AGREEMENT) was an avid Agribusiness woman, they raised chickens, sheep, cattle feed yard, corn, wheat, sunflowers, sugar beets, potatoes, pickles and what ever to grow and expand their business.
RoseMary was always active, and expanding her mind. RoseMary and Paul took Fred Astaire Ballroom Dancing lessons in Denver, getting home in the wee hours of the morning and going right to work. RoseMary had a love of ART, took china painting, oil painting, water color classes, she has shared many of her pieces of art work with her family and friends. RoseMary and Paul enjoyed learning the art of strumming the guitar.
As RoseMary and Paul were nearing retirement they taught Ballroom Dancing in Burlington, Colorado and Goodland, Kansas. One of RoseMarys signatures were her tailor made ball gowns and dresses. She was always impeccably dressed with her white gloves.
After retiring RoseMary and Paul purchased a home in Estes Park in the early 80s. RoseMary had a desire to learn the seven pedal harp, she was very good and faithful with her hours of practice in the early mornings. We were all privileged to hear her perform.
RoseMary was very active in her Churches. St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, Burlington, Colorado; Our Lady of the Mountains Catholic Church, Estes Park, Colorado..; active in the Estes Park Investment Club, Stephan Ministry, Dale Carnegie, and many other activities.
Anyone who knew RoseMary, know that she loved to take long walks, she wore out many pairs of walking shoes.
She will be missed by all who knew her.
Proceeding RoseMary in death were her parents, her soul mate Paul John on June 10, 2001, sister Julia (McCormick) Lowe, sister Bette (McCormick) Selenke, one brother Thomas McCormick, one nephew Michael McCormick , sister- in- law Sylvia (Malbaff) McCormick.
RoseMary is survived by her daughters Paulette Ohnmacht and husband Norbert of Burlington, Colorado, Michelle Wisner and husband Edward of Estes Park, Colorado, three Granddaughters, Renee (Doug) Richmeier , Great Bend, Kansas; Stephanie Ohnmacht and Edric Starbird, Denver, Colorado; Felicia (James) Humphrey , Denver, Colorado.

RoseMary is survived by her brothers Joseph McCormick and family, Flagler, Colorado; James Jr. McCormick and family, Denver, Colorado; Dan McCormick and family, Stratton, Colorado; Sister-in-law Loletta Ramos, Burlington, Colorado. Numerous nieces and nephews....
