Obituary of Martin Roy Gallagher
Following an extended illness, Martin 'Roy' Gallagher departed this life to be with the Lord, in his home in Cheyenne Wells, Colorado, on October 16, 2010.
Roy was born on March 18, 1934 to 'Bill' and Lena (Dick)
Gallagher in Simla, Colorado. He was a 1952 graduate of Calhan High School. In 1954, while living in Boone, Colorado, he met Helen Lattie.
They were married on December 31 of that year. They had 2 children, Karen and Michael.
In 1991 he met Nella Hall in a small church in Colorado Springs. They were later married on April 3, 1993 and resided in
Colorado for the next five years. They relocated to Missouri in the fall of 1998 and returned to Colorado in the spring of 2010.
In 1999 Roy established a missionary work in India that is still a thriving work today. This ministry now consists of a church, an
outreach to village children, a seniors' ministry, a ministry to college
students, and a bible book store.
His favorite leisure-time hobby was time spent on Microsoft Flight Simulator at which he became very proficient.
Roy always possessed a passion for learning, continuing his education throughout his adult life. He persevered until he earned his PhD in Biblical Studies. He enjoyed writing poetry, short stories,
magazine articles, etc. In his lifetime of searching and learning, he came to realize that his greatest accomplishment in this life was his acceptance of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. He will be
remembered for his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, and his love for his family and his animals.
He is survived by his wife, Nella Gallagher; his children: Karen (Gallagher) Pelton and her husband, Carleton of Cheyenne Wells, Colorado; Michael Gallagher, his wife Shawnda, son, Justin, and daughter, Shannon of Aurora, Colorado; Celena Chasteen, her
husband, James and 8 children of Circleville, Ohio; Ray Seymour, Jr., his wife Stacy, and 4 children of West Liberty, Ohio; Tammy Hillman, her husband, Michael, and 3 children of Grove City, Ohio. He is also
survived by 5 great-grand children and a host of family and friends.
