Obituary of Richard Spencer
Richard Wayne Spencer died November 8, 2010 after a battle of cancer at his home in Burlington, Colorado. He was 70 years old.
Richard was born on July 13, 1940 in Flagler Colorado to Wayne H. Spencer and Vera Marie (Smith) Spencer. There he lived on the family homestead north of Flagler until 1952 when they sold the farm and purchased a new farm in Macon, Missouri. Later in 1958 they moved to Colorado. He was one of six children born to this union.
Richard enjoyed his horses, fishing, wood crafting, water fights, and life itself. Every one enjoyed Richards great sense of humor, whether it was aggravating his mother or making bug gravy for the grandkids; no matter his age, he was a kid at heart and lived life to the fullest. His passion was ranch work, working cattle and riding horses. He turned work into play and made the most of any situation.
Richard married Linda J. Newkirk on October 18, 1962; from this union five children were born: Randall W. Spencer, Seibert, Colorado, Rhonda M. Clay (John), Limon, Colorado, Richard B. Spencer (Angie), Chandler, Oklahoma, Loretta G. Boone (Tim), Morgan City, Louisiana, and Todd A. Spencer (Jessica), Hugo, Colorado.
Richard married Donna M. Wade in 1976 and to this union one daughter was born, Christine Spencer, Texas.
Richard married Patricia A. McCaffrey on September 26, 1987 from this union he welcomed four additional children: John R. Specht (Angel), Fromberg, Montana, Tamara S. Clay, Laurel, Montana, Jeffrey J. Specht, Billings, Montana, and Thomas W. Specht, Billings, Montana.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents and brother Lawrence Spencer.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia A. Spencer, two sisters; Marie Clardy (Barry) and Beverly Braman, three brothers; Loyd Spencer (Gwen), Robert Spencer (Bev) and George Spencer (Yvette), six children, four step children, his twenty-two grandchildren; Randi E. Webster, Joseph W. Spencer, James R. Spencer, Tosha L. Clay, Drew A. Clay, Shyloh N. Spencer, Marcus B. Spencer, Braydon C. Boone, Asa J. Boone, Tirrell N. Spencer, Jaden R. Spencer, Anthony C. Specht, and three great grandchildren; Talib Webster, Benjamin Webster, and Audri Webster.
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming
WOW! WHAT A RIDE!!
