Obituary of Jaunita Edwards
Jaunita May Edwards, age 87, of Flagler, CO passed away on November 20, 2010 in the home of her daughter, Marie Hill, in Flagler, CO.
Jaunita was born September 15, 1923 to John and Alice Apsley. She was born on a farm outside of Turpin, OK in Beaver County. She spent her childhood in Liberal, KS with her brothers, Grant, Clarence and Donald and her one sister Delpha. She attended school in Liberal, KS until the 10th grade.
On March 16, 1940 she married J.T. Edwards in Garden City, KS. From this union she was blessed with four children, Marie, Francis, Kay and David.
In 1950 she and J.T. moved to Colorado from Fowler, KS where they had lived for 10 years. They lived in a house in south Flagler owned by Ted Wicham, they then moved to a farm west of Flagler. They lived on the farm for a few years then moved to the apartments over Ottemans Cash store. Jaunita worked for 20 years at Ottemans Cash store from 1951-1971. She then went to work at Colorado Bird Seed where she worked for 19 years from 1971-1990. She moved to the Pioneer Valley Apartments in 1995 from her home in West Flagler where she had lived for 34 years. For a few years after she moved to Pioneer Valley she worked part time at the Ala Cart for Aletha Klann and at the Pro Shop at the Moss Golf Course. In September of 2010 she moved into the home of her eldest daughter, Marie Hill.
Jaunita was a woman with very strong faith. She was baptized into the Lutheran faith on November 4, 1962 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Flagler, CO and remained a very active member. She loved to crochet and was always busy making dollies or tablecloths for someone.
During her declining days when she wasnt able to get out she was amazed at how many wonderful friends she had that came to visit. She loved the small town of Flagler and was so thankful for all of the wonderful people who blessed her life.
Jaunita was proceeded in death by her parents, John and Alice Apsley; her three brothers, Grant, Clarence and Donald Apsley; her husband, J.T. Edwards; her son-in-law, Jim Hill; granddaughter, Lori Hill; her grandson, Timothy Weatherly; her great grandson, Dwight Scott Solomon.
She is survived by her children, Marie Hill, Francis Weatherly and her husband Floyd, Kay Brouwer and her husband Gene, David Edwards and his wife Patricia, all from Flagler, CO. Her sister, Delpha Bruso and husband Clifford of Wichita, KS. Her sister-in-laws, Marmie Apsley of Broken Arrow, OK, Gloria Apsley of Seattle, WA, her brother-in-law, P.D. Edwards of Fowler, KS. Her grandchildren, Bill Hill, Penny Nagel and husband Roger, Linda Moreen and husband Lloyd, Lonnie Brouwer, Marion Brouwer and wife Sherie, Mike Edwards , Michelle Eagleton and husband Adam. Great grandchildren, Doug Hill and wife Angela, Melissa Hill, Brandon Hill and wife Amanda, Lynnann Davis, Jay Weatherly, Shawn Yarian, Shelby Soloman, Chance and Destiny Moreen, Josiah Brouwer, Bethany Brent and husband Theron, Tyrell, Seth and Makayla
Brouwer. Great-great grandchildren, Aryn Davis, Shelby Babbit, Danika and Brayden Hill, Owen Brent, Christina, Christofer and Christian Potenza, Grant and Jaylyn Hill and Taylor and Joshua Eagleton. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She will be greatly missed by all of her family and many friends; she was a very loving woman.
