Glenn & I at The Country Store - December 1, 2010
Posted: December 1, 2010 | Last Revised: December 1, 2010
I remember a day many years back that I had taken my Grandmother's Cadillac to the COOP to have a set of tires put on it for her. Glenn was there and when he found out what i was doing, he put his hand on my shoulder and told me,"You are a pretty damn good kid!" I remember how much it meant to me to hear that Glenn Kyle thought I was a pretty damn good kid. I never forgot that moment. I am going to miss his kindness,

My deepest sympathies to Shirley and all of Glenn's family.
Glenn played cards like he lived life - he did his very best to beat you, friend or not, and never gave an inch - but he was always good for a ride home afterwards. Glenn had no problems taking $20 in a fair fight at the table - but would loan you $50 just as quickly. As his fellow card-playing friends would attest, Glenn was "Aces". Glenn was a true friend, and will be greatly missed.

My Father, Alfred W. Child, knew Glenn in the 40's, and I first met Glenn when we moved to Flagler in 1952. I immediately took a liking to Glenn as he was so kind and made a new kid feel welcome in town. In 1957 and 1958 I worked on Marion and Doris Kyle's farm with Glenn and he took me to town on Saturday nights. I have many fond memories of my times with Glenn. He was always very good to me and I always enjoyed talking to him in recent years. He was a wonderful man, and our sincerest sympathies go out to Shirley and their family.

Ome of my early memories of uncle glen was many years ago when my cousins Barry and Georgia and me were staying with Uncle Glen and Aunt Shirley during the Christmas holidays. Uncle Glen played basketball in Flagler and ther was a game coming up and being young kids we did not have any money. We wanted to go to the game but were told that since we didn't have any money we could mop the floor at half time. Uncle Glen was so convincing that we did not want to go. We believed the whole story right up to the time to go and of course at that time they told us we weren't going to have to mop the floors. We were some relieved kids. I love a kidder. And We all loved Uncle Glen.
