Obituary of Darrall Petersen
Darrall Arthur Petersen, 84, of Franktown, Colorado formerly of Limon, Colorado passed away on February 12, 2011 at his home.
Darrall better known as "Red" was born on September 15, 1926 in Limon, Colorado to Roy W. Petersen and Petra (Johnson) Petersen one of four children. He grew up in the Limon area attending school at Limon Public School and graduating from East High School in Denver, Colorado in 1943.
After graduating Red enlisted as an Apprentice Seaman on August 23, 1944 in Denver Colorado serving his country for 2 years.
He married Lois I. Yonkers in Nevada in 1963 and together they have six children.
Red was baptized in the Walks Camp Lutheran Church and confirmed in the Montclair Lutheran Church in Denver, Colorado. He enjoyed socializing with his fellow firemen and retired after 25 years of service a Captain for the City of Hayward Fire Department in Hayward, California. Red also enjoyed fishing, yard work, gardening, and spending time with family and friends. He was an accomplished musician and enjoyed playing his piano and his organ.
Red was preceded in death by his parents Roy and Petra Petersen and one sister Betty.
He is survived by his wife Lois Petersen of Franktown, Colorado and their children; Ken Higdon of Wichita, Kansas, Matt (Cynthia) Higdon of Simla, Colorado, Arlene (Richard) DeLeon of Castro Valley, California, Diana (Neil) Nohr of San Leandro, California, Robin (Chris) Christensen of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Dayna (Boyd) Sneddon of Elizabeth, Colorado. Red is also survived by his brothers; Donald (Doris) Petersen of North Glenn, Colorado, fifteen grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
