Obituary of Amos Wilson
Amos Wilson, 92, of Peyton, Colorado passed away on February 18, 2011 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Amos was born on August 24, 1918 in McDonald County, Missouri to Fred and Ollie Mae (Taylor) Wilson, one of four children. After attending schools in McDonald County, Amos left Missouri in 1936 for western Colorado to find work in the fruit orchards.
On November 21, 1940 he married Beulah Rose Schuster and to this union four children were born. After farming and ranching for nearly 50 years in the Alta Vista community and working for the Simla Telephone Exchange as the telephone man, Amos and Beulah retired, sold the ranch and moved to the Peyton area. After 58 years of marriage, Beulah passed away on August 19, 1998. Amos and Martha Flanagan Hasenbalg were joined in marriage in Simla, Colorado on September 1, 1999.
He served on the Alta Vista School Board for three terms. Amos loved fishing, hunting and gardening and above all else, he loved his family.
Amos was preceded in death by his first wife, Beulah; his parents, one brother, Alfred Wilson, and one sister, Annys Jean Clay.
He is survived by his wife, Martha of Peyton, his sister, Freda (Wesley) Corder of Littleton, Colorado, sons, Raymond Wilson of Calhan, Ron (Debbie) Wilson of Colorado Springs, Richard (Judi) Wilson of La Junta, daughter, Janice (George) Martin of Calhan, step sons, Terry (Becky) Hasenbalg of Simla, Randy Hasenbalg of Simla, Glen Hasenbalg of Denver, step daughters, Nancy Atwater of Limon, Jennie (Richard) Hoefler of Hugo and Carmen (Ray) Rudder of Denver. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren, and numerous step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.
