Obituary of Amanda Jacobson
Lifelong Burlington, Colorado resident Bertha Amanda Jacobson passed away on March 3, 2011 at the Kit Carson County Memorial Hospital in Burlington. She was 97 years old.
Amanda, as she was known by all, was born on January 19, 1914 in Burlington, Colorado to Francis Arron and Bertha Sarah (Floerke) Chandler. She was one of eight children.
Amanda grew up in the Burlington area and attended school in Burlington, and graduated from Burlington High School in 1932. On July 19, 1939, Amanda married Lester Leonard Jacobson. To this union four children, Larry, Orin, Mary Lou and Carolyn were born.
Amanda had several hobbies including; embroidery, fishing, gardening, playing cards and bingo. She was one of the original members of the pinochle club which started in 1959. She always loved having the family dinners at her home for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Amanda especially enjoyed her time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Amanda is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lester, three sisters, Leah Crites, Rachael Moore and Leona Barrett; three brothers, Floyd Chandler, Jake Chandler and Clarence Chandler.
She is survived by her four children, sons Larry Jacobson and his wife Delores, and Orin and Cheryl Jacobson of Burlington, Colorado, daughters Mary Lou Williams and her husband Hal of Cheyenne Wells, and Carolyn Russell and her husband Thomas of Colorado Springs. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and one sister Beulah Lammey of Missouri.
