Obituary of Luceile Campbell
Luceile Dorothy (Sharpe) Campbell, 90, passed away at 11:00 AM Thursday, March 3, 2016 at the Lincoln Community Hospital in Hugo, Colorado following a lengthy illness.
Luceile was born in Flagler, Colorado on November 2, 1925 to William and Augusta Sharpe. She was the second of five children. She had an older sister, Ethel (Sharpe) Nuttleman, younger sister Myrna (Sharpe) Schrock, younger brother Ralph Sharpe and younger sister Alice (Sharpe) Paragon.
Luceile’s mother died when she was around 3 years old and she and her siblings were raised by their grandmother, Louise Orth. They lived in a sod home near Lindon, Colorado. After Luceile graduated from the 8th grade she moved to Brighton to finish her high school career and to reside with their father and stepmother, Frieda. She graduated from Brighton High School in 1943.
When Luceile was 18 years old she returned to the Thurman area and taught school in a one-room schoolhouse at both Pleasant Hill and Thurman.
On April 28, 1947 Luceile married the love of her life, Ray Charles Campbell. They made their home 9 miles southwest of Anton. To this union five children were born, Patricia Rae Campbell, Robert Lawrence Campbell, David Paul Campbell, Janet Luceile Campbell and Sheri Lynn (Campbell) Frazier.
On October 5, 1949 Luceile was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She had a love of the Bible and enjoyed teaching it’s truths to others.
Luceile had a strong love of music. She gave piano lessons and played the auto harp and enjoyed playing the guitar and singing.
After milking cows, many evenings were spent sitting around playing games and eating popcorn with family.
Luceile was an avid gardener and she canned the fruits of her gardening to help feed her family.
In 1977 she moved to Limon where she lived until her death. She is preceded in death by her mother Augusta Sharpe, father William Sharpe, brother Ralph Sharpe, sister Ethel Nuttleman, sister Alice Paragon, and daughter Janet Campbell.
Luceile is survived by her husband, Ray Campbell of Anton, Colorado, sister Myrna Schrock of Akron, Colorado, her daughter Patty Campbell of Laramie, Wyoming, son Bob Campbell and wife Linda of Limon, Colorado, son David Campbell and wife Alice of Callahan, Florida, daughter Sheri Frazier of Limon, Colorado and seven grandchildren, Randall Spencer and wife Cindy of Limon, Colorado, Rhonda Clay and husband John of Limon, Colorado, Rick Spencer and wife Angie of Chandler, Oklahoma, Loretta Boone and husband Tim of Morgan City, Louisiana, Todd Spencer and wife Jessica of Limon, Colorado, Philip Campbell and wife Bridget of Limon, Colorado, Kylee Frazier of Limon, Colorado, several nieces and nephews, friends, and great grandchildren including Hailey Jo, Kylee Frazier’s daughter, who was much loved by and brought great joy to Luceile in the last two years of her life.
