Obituary of Jay Harris

Jay Arnold Harris, 78, of Karval, Colorado passed away peacefully at the Lincoln Community Nursing Home in Hugo, CO on June 28, 2011. Jay was born on March 19, 1933 at home in Pleasant Center, Colorado one of eight children born to Earl and Vera (Burger) Harris. He was raised on the farm graduating from Ordway High School in May of 1953 in Ordway, Colorado. Jay married Alta May Roberts on September 6, 1953 in Nazarene Church in Karval, Colorado and they were blessed with a daughter Kami Kay and one god son Darin Harris. Jay was a farmer at heart and enjoyed ranching as well. He also taught himself how to fix most anything being an accomplished mechanic. Jay’s love was his family and he really enjoyed his grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Jay was preceded in death by his parents Earl and Vera Harris, sister; Phyllis Jewell, brother; Bruce Harris, one infant sister and brother-in-law Bill Jewell. He is survived by his wife Alta Harris of Karval, Colorado and his daughter Kami and husband Michael McWilliams and their children; Taya, Alyssa and Andrew McWilliams, brothers; Dennie Harris, Ray Harris and Marvin Harris, and sister Maxine Wezel. Jay is also survived by many nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends.
