Obituary of Donald North
Longtime Flagler, Colorado resident Donald Wayne North passed away on November 30, 2011 at the Porter Hospital in Denver. He was 66 years old.
Don was born on April 17, 1945 in Wray, Colorado to Willard Guy and Geneva (Barrett) North. He was one of four children born to this union. Don grew up in Idalia and attended Idalia High School. Don served in the Navy from 1963 to 1966. On December 23, 1963, Don married Gloria Ann Lohman.
On October 12, 2004, Don married Zylpha Brown in Burlington.
Don worked for the Natural Gas Company for 44 years, and retired in March 2011. Don enjoyed fishing, hunting, and old cars. He taught Hunter Safety, was the fire chief for the fire department in Flagler, and was a first responder with the Flagler Ambulance Service. He was also a member of the Flagler American Legion.
He was preceded in death by his father, one grandson Garrett Dalton Seymour and a step son Blake Pursley.
He is survived by his mother Geneva North of Wray, Colorado, his wife Zylpha of Flagler, three daughters Shari Dougherty and her husband Duane of Karval, Colorado, Kandi Seymour of Flagler, Colorado, and Marci North of Goodland, Kansas, a step son Jason Pursley of Nacogdoches, TX, and a step daughter Danny Ray Hornung and her husband Louden of Flagler, Colorado; twelve grandchildren, Jacob Gibbs, David Saffer, Shelby Seymour, Chase and Chance Seymour, Brok and Kobi Seymour, Hunter and Emily Schmidt, Taylor and John Peden and Hailey Loutzenhiser, as well as one great grandchild Raydon Saffer. He is also survived by one brother Gary North and his wife Mary Lou of Burlington, Colorado and two sisters Kitty Jacobs of Wray, Colorado and Janice Elrick and her husband Don of Watkins, Colorado.
