Obituary of LaVerda Kollath
LaVerda Mary (Weber) Kollath passed away on Friday, December 30, 2011 in Hugo, Colorado after a few weeks of complications with emphysema (C.O.P.D.)
LaVerda was born in Sheridan Lake, Colorado on January 2, 1928 to Frank and Agatha Weber. She was raised in Sheridan Lake and attended the school system there graduating from Sheridan Lake High School in 1946.
She worked in the Sheridan Lake area for a few years and met her husband Bernard Kollath at the fall festival at the Limon Catholic Church in 1950 and was married the following year on October 2, 1951 at the Catholic Church in Sheridan Lake, Colorado. They shared over fifty-seven years of marriage before Bernard preceded her in death on January 2, 2008.
LaVerda was busy being a housewife and mother of eight. She became a representative of the Fuller Brush Company and also drove a Limon school bus for many years. She was actively involved at Our Lady of Victory Parish in Limon, including the Ladies Sodality and doing the linens for the church. Her hobbies included sewing for her children and grandchildren, knitting and crocheting blankets and household knickknacks. She loved painting, including porcelain and does not exclude the many times she and her husband painted the house. She spent many hours refinishing furniture which are of great value to her children today.
LaVerdas greatest love was her family. Spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren brought her endless hours of enjoyment. She also liked playing cards, dancing and visiting with extended family and friends.
LaVerda was preceded in death by Bernard, her husband; her parents; a brother and sister-in-law Leander and Maxine Weber; a sister and brother-in-law Mildred and Don Dickerson; a brother-in-law Lloyd Blackwelder; a brother-in-law Eddie Pless; and a grandson William Matthew Jackson.
She is survived by her sisters, Leona Blackwelder and Mary Lou Pless; brothers Ed (Betty) Weber and Denis (Theresa) Weber; her children, Paula (Keith) Simpson of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, Dan Kollath of Limon, Colorado, Janice Kollath of Pueblo, Colorado, Glenda (Bill) Jackson of Ft. Madison, Iowa, James Kollath of Matheson, Colorado, Joe Kollath of Limon, Colorado, Patty (Rick) Sandersfeld of Limon, Colorado and Chris (Nicole) Kollath of Limon, Colorado; nineteen grandchildren; one great grandchild; and numerous extended relatives and friends.
