Uncle Olaf you'll be greatly missed. I have memories of you out at the farm when Mom and Dad and all of their crew would come out to visit. The pranks that you would play on all of your nieces and nephews and we would all laugh and run. I'll remember your laugh and your smile. You rest in peace Uncle.
Love Kay and Craig Guffey

Uncle Olaf, I will miss hearing your story of me asking you what the name of that black cow was. You answered very seriously, "Marilyn." I said, "Marilyn, she can't be named Marilyn, that's my name!!" I must have been about 5 years old at the time. You'd always giggle after you told me the story which of course made me laugh. Every time I'd visit you over the years you told me this story. I must have heard it over 30 times! I will miss not hearing it again but I'll keep this story in my heart forever.
Love you! Marilyn and Ron

We were saddened to hear of your loss. I know he will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Olaf had a wonderful smile, a great laugh, and a teasing twinkle in his eyes when he was playing with the Grandchildren. These are the things I choose to remember. May the God of peace surround you during this time.

Coming to Ks.
Posted: January 7, 2012 | Last Revised: January 7, 2012
I didn't know Norby till he came to Ks. for my folks 50th wedding anniverary. He was in the army with my Dad and was stationed in Korea. He was a good friend of dad's at the time and they had many stories to share when he came back to Ellsworth. Olaf didn't know to many people at the Ann.but said he still enjoyed himself. Us kids didn't tell the folks we had invited him or that he was coming, so when he walked in,oh, the look on Dad,s face was priceless. He loved surprising my folks. They spent the next few days together reminicing. They had agreat time together and I'm very glad he came. What a good man he was.

His horses
Posted: January 4, 2012 | Last Revised: January 4, 2012
Olaf and my husband, Jim Foley, were friends. Olaf heard that our daughter Janice, wanted to learn to ride so he loaned us his horse, Bill. Soon Janice was riding everywhere so Olaf needed a new roping horse. Jim and Olaf bought two related roping horses which they named Jim's horse JO for Jim and Olaf and Olaf's horse OJ for Olaf and Jim.
They had many great times together and I am sure Olaf was met at heaven's gate by Jim ready to rope!

I worked at Limon Village a few years ago. Olaf was one of my favorite residents. Every morning when I came to work his face would light up and he would say "Theres my girl" and he would give me a hug. He loved his coffee and he was always happy. I will miss you Olaf.
