Obituary of Lyle Nuttleman
Lyle Gean Nuttleman age 85 of Limon, Colorado and formerly of Lindon, Colorado passed away Thursday, February 23, 2012 at the Lincoln County Hospital in Hugo, Colorado. He was born April 23, 1926 in Shaw, Colorado to Harry and Clara Nuttleman. Lyle grew up and went to schools in Canyon City. After the eighth grade he went to work on the family farm until he enlisted in the United States Navy in 1944 when he was eighteen years old.
Lyle proudly served in the United States Navy during WWII from December of 1944 and was honorably discharged in July of 1946. He earned the rank of Seaman First Class as well as earning the Asiatic Pacific (2 Stars), American Area and the Victory medals.
Lyle was a lifelong rancher and farmer. When Lyle came back from he the war in 1946 he continued to work on the family farm southeast of Lindon. The land is all he knew and he knew it very well. Lyle never really retired from farming in his heart and his mind, but due to his health he physically had to retire in 2005. The farm will always be a part of Lyle and his family will continue on his strong work ethic that he left behind.
Lyle was an avid sports fan and he really loved his Denver Nuggets and his Colorado Rockies. He was very passionate about baseball and was known for starting up some sand lot baseball games with his nieces and nephews. Lyle never married and had no children but that didnt keep him from treating his nieces and nephews as if they were his own. Lyle loved them all dearly and if they ever needed something done, he was always there with a helping hand. He was always supporting his community that he loved very much. Lyle was a gentle man who never had a bad word to say about anybody. He was always selfless, kind and generous to all of his family and friends. He touched the lives of many people and his smile, laugh and big heart will be missed by all.
He was a member of the Howard United Methodist in Last Chance, Colorado and the Woodrow Lions Club.
Lyle is survived by his younger sister, Frances Paulson of Limon, Colorado; his younger brother, Robert Bob Nuttleman (Mary Ann) of Littleton, Colorado; nephew Jim Paulson; nieces Ilene Sharpe, Linda Hessler, Sandra Nuttleman, Gail Ferguson , Carlene Mosher, Nancy Engle; 9 great nephews, 9 great nieces, 18 great great nieces and nephews, and 18 great great great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Carl, Ralph, Harold and Harry Jr. Nuttleman; one sister, Gladys Wyman, 2 nephews, Jerry Nuttleman and Rob Nuttleman, and 1 great nephew, Joshua Paulson.
