Obituary of Lola Hartley
Longtime Seibert, Colorado resident, Lola Hartley passed away on Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at the Good Samaritan Society in Goodland, Kansas. She was 96 years old.
Lola was born May 12, 1915, to Charlie and Carrie Minor, the oldest of eight children. She married George Hartley on April 13, 1932. To this union three children were born; Calvin, Shirley and Ronald.
Lola was a loving, caring wife and mother. She helped raise two of her younger sisters. She was a very good cook, being head cook at the Seibert School for many years and also at the Boy Scout Camp Alexander for several years. She was known for her chicken and noodles by family and friends. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge in Seibert and Flagler. She ran a café for a few years. Lola went to beauty school in her fifties and later ran a beauty shop for several years. She sang in the church choir until she got Alzheimers. She leaves many fond memories.
She is preceded in death by her husband George, son Calvin, daughter Shirley, daughter-in-law Carol (Peters) Hartley, sisters; Vera May, Lorene, Nadine and Melva; brother Charles Jr., brother-in-laws; Stan Geiken, Conrad Bollig, LeRoy Parsons, Bernard Kite, Robert Hartley, Willard Hartley, Allen (Pike) Hartley, Jim Miller, Howard Crumrine, Cleo Moore, Raymond Rogers, sister-in-laws; Sudie Hartley, Pauline Hartley, Wanda Miller, LaVern Rogers, Susie Moore and Leota (Crumrine) Asbridge.
Left to cherish her memory is her son Ronald Hartley of Burlington, son-in-law Elbert Akers of Aurora, sisters; Marvel Geiken of Seibert and Marjorie Parsons of Loveland, sister-in-law Joan Hartley of Goodland, Kansas, five grandchildren; Randall (Karen) Akers of Castle Rock, Rick (Cindy) Akers of Lamar, Rocky Akers of Denver, Ronda (Gregg) Mullen of Brush, Roger (Kristi) Hartley of Burlington, nine great grandchildren; Cassie, Travis, Andrea, Holly, Dustin, Andrew, Nick, Brittney and Kelsi, nine great great grandchildren; Angel, Gavin, Issaac, Maddix, Benjamin, Jaxon, Stetson, Kennedy and Natalie. Lola is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
