Obituary of Gail Pitzer
Gail Kay (Benjamin) Pitzer age 59 of Agate, Colorado passed away Sunday, April 1, 2012 at her home. She was born April 24, 1952 in Colorado Springs, Colorado the daughter of Robert Leonard and Reba G. (Davis) Benjamin. She grew up in Agate and graduated from Agate High School in 1970.
Gail was married to John McClain on June 18, 1971. They later divorced. To this union they shared one daughter, Amy (McClain) Hernandez.
On January 24, 1986 in Denver, Colorado, Gail was united in marriage to Larry Pitzer. They shared over twenty-six years of marriage. To this union they shared a son Jason Lacik.
Gail was a selfless person who loved to care for people. She was always getting involved with helping her family, her neighbors, and her community. She understood what hard work was all about and took much pride in everything she did. It could easily be said that she enjoyed keeping busy and was always caring for her family and friends. She was always giving her warm spirit and her caring heart on a daily basis. She was very passionate about music which always fed her soul with sunshine. She loved to sing and she even recorded a few songs of her own. Most of all, Gail loved children. She was always giving and caring for many underprivileged children. Gail's warm spirit and loving heart will be missed by all and her presence will always be missed and never forgotten.
Gail wore many hats throughout her career. Most of her life, she was the general manager for over thirty-six years for the Agate Mutual Telephone Coop Association in Agate, Colorado. Gail was very active and involved leader who cared very much for her community. She was a member of the R.C. & D. Board of Hugo, Agate School Board for 18 years, the Colorado Telecommunications Board, CCT, LLC - Fiber Optic Ring of Eastern, Colorado, the Alumni Association of Agate, the Agate Community Church and the Compassion International for Kids.
Gail is survived by her husband Larry of the home; one daughter, Amy Hernandez (Eric) of Agate, CO; one son, Jason Lacik (Summer) of Limon, CO; her mother and father Robert and Reba Benjamin; one brother, Donald Benjamin (Stephanie) of St. Francis, Kansas; one brother-in-law, John Pitzer (Kathi) of Lakewood, CO; one sister-in-law, LeAnn Rollins (Richard) of Murrieta, CA; mother-in-law, Thelma Pitzer of Murrieta, CA; three grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends.
