Obituary of Larry Shutte
Larry Eugene Shutte was born June 5, 1955 to Wilford and Norma Shutte in Neodesha, Kansas. He passed away April 16, 2012 at the age of 56 at the Kit Carson County Memorial Hospital in Burlington after a six week battle with cancer. He was the only son of five children. He graduated from Stratton High School in 1973.
Larry married Rhonda McCaffrey on February 13, 1982 in Vona, Colorado and they had three children; Deidra Nicole, Kyle Lewis and Mitchell Lawrence. His children were his pride and joy and he was looking forward to the month of May because all three of them would be graduating from college and high school.
Larry held many jobs in his younger years; the first being at the age of seven taking tickets at Tiny Town Amusement Park in the mountains of Colorado. He worked for K.C. Electric Association for the past 32 years. It was a job that he loved because of all the people he met over the years and the great employees that he worked with.
Larry was a member of many boards over the years, the most recent as president of the Stratton School board, and president of the Mesa State Hotline School in Grand Junction, Colorado.
Larry attended the First Baptist Church in Vona, Colorado. He was baptized on July 30, 2000 along with two of his children.
Larry was preceded in death by his father Wilford Shutte, sisters Louise Ann Shutte and Dee Jantz, nephew Eric Jantz, niece Lori Grasser and father-in-law Darrell McCaffrey.
Larry is survived by his wife Rhonda of Stratton and their three children Deidra, Kyle and Mitchell, mother Norma Shutte of Stratton, sisters Linda Rediess of Thornton and Della and Sam Calhoon of Vona, mother-in-law Pauline McCaffrey of Vona, sisters and brother-in-laws Barb and Rich Grasser of Stratton, Peggy and Steve Weston of Denver, Dareline and Russ Malone of Vona, nieces and nephews, Luke and Marci Jantz, Tammy and Terry Huffman, Lee and Angela Einspahr, Tim Einspahr and Angie Mercado, Alan and Shawna Calhoon, Jessica and Brandon Murray, Carol Trevino, Megan Sands, Cody Malone and Kendal Malone.
