Obituary of Kenton Mauck
Kenton Alvis Mauck age 86 of Colorado Springs, Colorado and formerly of Limon, Colorado passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at the Emeritus At Bear Creek Care Community. He was born September 3, 1925 in Langdon, Kansas the son of Phillip A. and Bessie (Holmes) Mauck. He grew up and graduated from Langdon High School in Langdon, Kansas. Kenton also attended Ft. Hays State University for a year in Hays, Kansas.
Kenton proudly served in the United States Army during WWII. He entered active duty on December 9, 1943 and was Honorably Discharged on December 30, 1945. He was a tractor operator and he earned the rank of Tech Five.
On October 1, 1952, Kenton was united in marriage to Christine Ruth Brauer in Calhan, Colorado at the St. Paul Lutheran Church. They shared nearly sixty years of marriage. To this union were born four children; Larry, Brenda, Ron and Lorinda.
Kenton was a lifelong farmer and rancher. In the late 1940s, Kenton and his brother Kenneth made the move from Kansas to the farm north of Limon where he farmed and ranched until his retirement. His passion was farming his land and caring for his cattle. His strong work ethic and his appreciation for his family and his community came from growing up in tough times during the great depression. After retirement, Kenton and Christine loved their winter stays in Tucson, Arizona where they got to meet and stay acquainted with quite a few families. Kenton also enjoyed reading, playing cards, square dancing, and was always keeping up on the current events. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren who were his pride and joy. Kentons loving and caring spirit will continue on through his family and friends forever
He was preceded in death by his parents; two infant sisters; and one infant brother.
Kenton is survived by his wife Christine of the home; two daughters, Brenda Barkley (John) of Jefferson, Colorado and Lorinda Cook (Greg) of Tribune, Kansas; two sons, Larry Mauck (Roberta) of Longmont, Colorado and Ron Mauck (Bonnie) of Sandpoint, Idaho; two brothers, Kenneth Mauck of Limon, Colorado and Henry Mauck (Esther) of Strasburg, Colorado; four sisters, Phyllis Mauck of Limon, Colorado, Elaine Applegate of Hutchinson, Kansas, Melba Treaster of Fort Collins, Colorado and Marjorie McKinney of Augusta, Kansas; and eight grandchildren, Ralph Mauck, Landon Mauck, Christopher Mauck, Jennifer Dutton, Sara Wilson (Todd), Kelsey Dutton, Alex Mauck (Natalie), and Danette Mauck.
