Obituary of Kay Pickard
Longtime Stratton, Colorado resident, Helen Kay Pickard passed away on December 20, 2012 at the Kit Carson County Memorial Hospital in Burlington. She was 66 years old.
Kay was born on November 27, 1946 in Pampa, Texas, to G.W. and Nellie Zeda (Cook) Jolly. She was one of three children. Kay grew up and attended school in Lamar up through the 11th grade.
Kay spent most of her life working as a homemaker. Kay enjoyed flower arranging, cooking, embroidery, and enjoyed following her grandsons in rodeo. She also enjoyed being around people, dogs, entertaining and always had someone out to visit. She enjoyed decorating for the holidays, especially Christmas. She was looking forward to Tina and Ryans wedding and seeing the
decorations for that.
Kay had two children; Tina and Jakey.
On February 14, 1996, Kay married Louis Henry Pickard in Vona Colorado. This union brought two more children into Kays life, Daryl Pickard and Marci Bowman. After her marriage to Louis, she enjoyed working by his side on the farm.
Kay was preceded in death by her parents, her step father Dub Dempsey, her son Jakey Pursley, stepson Randy Pickard, sister Torchy Coffee, and her brother Red Jolly.
She is survived by her husband Louis Pickard of Vona, her daughter Tina Remington and her fiancée Ryan Miller of Cimarron, Kansas, stepson Daryl Pickard of Vona, and stepdaughter Marci Bowman and her husband Bob of Scotch Plains, New Jersey. She is also survived by four grandchildren, three step grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
