Obituary of Gene Clark
Longtime Stratton, Colorado resident, Harry Eugene Clark passed away on Sunday, February 10, 2013 at his home in Stratton. He was 90 years old.
Gene was born on December 24, 1922 to Harry Kerr and Louise (Gray) Clark in Denver, Colorado. He was one of six children born to this union.
Gene attended school in Kirk, Colorado and graduated in 1941 from Kirk High School. Gene then went on to attend school at Colorado Aggies, which is now Colorado State University, for 3 1/2 years. Genes college days were interrupted by his Service to the US Navy. After Genes father passed away, Gene left school and came to work for the Bank in Kirk.
He later met and married Ruth Joyce Beck on September 14, 1952 in Idalia, Colorado. This union brought two children Paul and Ken into Genes life, and to this union two children were born; Candice and Bonnie. In 1955, Gene and Joyce moved to Stratton, where he started working at the Bank in Stratton.
He was a member of the American Legion, Masons, Shriners, Elks, Lions and Rotary Clubs. He also liked to golf. He was a member of the Church of God in Stratton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Dorothy, his wife, Joyce, four brothers and one sister.
Left to cherish his memories are his children; Paul Clark and wife Heather of Fairfax, Virginia, Ken Clark and wife Nancy of Sterling, Colorado, Candice Spicer of Lakewood, Colorado, Bonnie Mattix and husband Jim of Riverton, Kansas, eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
