Obituary of Herbert Ferree
Herbert Vern Ferree, age 83, of Aurora, CO passed away Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at the Colorado State Veteran's Nursing Home in Aurora.
Herb was born in Matheson, CO on March 4, 1929 to parents Vern and Pauline E. (Smith) Ferree. He was one of six siblings.
Herb was orphaned at a young age during the Depression. At age 18, he set out to conquer life on his own with the clothes on his back and a few dollars in his pocket. Herb walked into a general store in Brighton, CO where he met an Elder in the Church of the Nazarene. This gentleman took Herb under his wing, leading him to faith in the church.
Herb later entered the US Army on March 1, 1951 in Denver, Colorado where he served his country in the Korean War receiving the United Nations Service Medal and the Korean Service Medal with a Bronze Star. He was honorably discharged on Feb 24, 1953.
Following his time in the service, Herb lived in California where he worked as an Electronics Technician. He later moved back to Colorado.
Herb was a member of the Nazarene Faith as well as as the VFW.
Herb is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Sherrie, brother Micheal and sister Bealuh.
He is survived by five children; Marsha (Robert) Rains of Wheatridge, CO, Ben Ferree of Wheatridge, CO, Herbert II (Pam) Ferree of St. Lucy, FL, and Michael (Rosie) Ferree of Denver, CO, brother Paul and wife Virginia Pearson of Longmont, CO; sister Norma if Texas and sister Delores of California; as well as extended family and church friends.
