Obituary of Dorothy Kvasnicka
Dorothy Rose Kvasnicka of Pahrump, NV, 89 years and 189 days, was called home on March 5, 2013. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend who brought joy to those around her.
Dorothy was born to Frank and Elsie Drummet on August 28, 1923 on a farm in Thayer County, Nebraska and was the youngest of five children. Dorothys parents both preceded her in death, as well as her four siblings and their husbands, Lois Holechek (Rudy), Lola Cone (Lyle), Keith Drummet (MaryAnn), and Retha Parrack (Wayne). Dorothy grew up in Mahaska, Kansas and met the love of her life, Keith Charles Kvasnicka, while in high school in Mahaska. After graduating, they married in Junction City, Kansas on October 22, 1941. They had four beautiful daughters, Carol Moss of Laguna Niguel, CA, Cheryl Grossnickle (Darrel) of Pahrump, NV, Joyce Vice (Brady) of Genoa, CO, and Judith Williams (Gene) of Pahrump, NV. Dorothy was extremely proud of her eight grandchildren, Dallas Moss, Kimberlee Castro, Dana Stobbe, James Gilbert, Holly Rosler, Amanda Rohrbaugh, Stephanie Hill, and Tom Hill, and step-grandchildren, Brandie Grossnickle, Jamie Schulz and Jason Vice. Her 28 great-grandchildren are, Sabreena, Blaine and Champ Moss, Chandler and Chase Castro and Jonathon Chapman, Jacquellen Stobbe, Miranda, Josh, and Matthew Gilbert, Nicholas Hill, Cayden and Sydney Rosler, Cherokee and Chloe Rohrbaugh, Karleigh and Natalee Jackson, Olivia and Isis Hill, and step-great-grandchildren, Ty, Laci, and Dallas Rohrbaugh, Steven Parker, Christian and Alyssa Schulz, Skyler and Aubrie Vice. They all brought her tremendous love and abundant joy.
Dorothy was a homemaker and her pride was founded in providing a warm and loving home for her family. Along with raising her four girls she also ran a restaurant during her years in Arriba, CO. She was an avid bridge and pinochle player and loved playing Bingo. These games were secondary to the Drummet and Kvasnicka family favorites, Wahoo and Screwy Louie. The family members used to stay up all night playing games and laughing hysterically. Holidays were huge celebrations. To all of us, those memories will be held dear to our hearts.
Dorothy and Keith traveled extensively during their retirement years and visited every state, always stopping to visit family and friends during their travels. Also, Keith and Dorothy loved to dance. They attended their high school reunions in Mahaska, Kansas for many years, until Dorothy was no longer able to travel. Dorothy and Keith celebrated 71 years of marriage and had a beautiful life together, always supporting each other and their family.
Dorothy loved to laugh and was always full of energy and life and made friends wherever she went. She was a social butterfly, loved to joke around and was the life of every party. Dorothy was an avid Denver Bronco fan and loved making wagers with family members, especially against the Raiders. Dorothy loved
spending time with her grandchildren and taught them many valuable life lessons, including how to drive. Her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren will cherish the wonderful memories filled with happiness, love, and fun. She was a beautiful soul and had an impact on many young lives. Her passing will leave a huge void for many.
