Obituary of Carroll Kosch
Carroll Marie (Gergen) Kosch was born July 31, 1912 to Charles Jacob and Helen Patricia Gergen as the first-born of 5 children. Carroll attended school and lived her whole life in the Burlington area.
On June 21, 1933 she married Louis Joseph Kosch and 6 children were born to this union. They lived and farmed 22 miles northeast of Burlington.
Carroll was a member of St. Catherine of Sienna Catholic Church in Burlington. She served faithfully for many years in the Alter and Rosary Society.
Carroll was a charter member of the Happy Hours Home Demonstration Club and also served the community in innumerable ways by volunteering at the Hospital Auxiliary, RSVP, McCaurther Senior Center and many other organizations in the community. Carroll loved to play the piano and played for the Senior Kitchen Band, but her favorite was playing at home surrounded by her family singing or having her small grandchildren adding a few notes of their own. She was also an avid reader and was rarely without a book in her hand. Her favorite author was James Herriot and the stories of his life as a vet. Carroll was an expert seamstress, sewing many beautiful clothes for her family and others in the community. Her family, as well as so many in the community, benefitted from her excellent cooking skills. A few special recipes will always be an inspiration to her family.
Carroll went to be with the Lord on March 15, 2013, at the age of 100, after a long, well-lived life and she leaves a legacy of strength and love that she passed down to her family. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Those left to mourn her death are her children, Rosemary Kosch of Denver, Joe Kosch of Burlington, Helen and Dick Krentz of Russellville, AR, Ann & Wayne Huppert of Hudson, CO, and Tony and Vicky Kosch of Burlington as well as 11 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Kosch, a son, David Kosch and 3 siblings.
