Obituary of Esther Mauck
Esther P. Mauck, 76, of Strasburg, Colorado passed away April 8, 2013 in Limon, Colorado.
She was born January 31, 1937 to Guy and Florence (Isgar) Nicks in rural Elbert County, Colorado and graduated from Simla High School in 1955. On March 8, 1956 Esther married Henry Sherman Mauck at the family farm south of Matheson, Colorado. To this union five children were born; Johnny Lee, who passed away as a newborn, twin daughters; Joan and Janet, daughter Susan and son Henry Sherman Jr.
Following High School Esther worked in the office at the Limon Sale Barn, the Donut Shop in Limon and was custodian at Simla School for many years. In 1979 the family moved from Matheson to Longmont where she worked as a seamstress, homemaker and ran her own custom drapery business. In 1984 she was State President of RLCA (Rural Letter Carrier Association) Auxiliary. In 1988 they relocated to Strasburg where she continued to be her own seamstress and made many projects for family members. Esther resided in Strasburg until February 2013 when she moved to Carlas Cluster Care in Limon, Colorado.
Esther was a doting mother, enjoyed her grandchildren and loved having them for extended periods of time in the summer and was very proud of her great grandchildren. Esther had several gifts she shared with others: her love of gardening and canning, crafts and sewing of which she passed on those passions to her grandchildren. She also enjoyed the annual family camping trips, fishing, boating, crocheting and shopping, especially at Walmart.
Esther is survived by her husband of 56 years, Henry of Strasburg, Colorado, son Sherman (Jodi) Mauck of Merino, Colorado, daughters Janet (James) Nienhuser of Limon, Colorado, Susan (Darrell) Conway of Elba, Nebraska and son-in-law Rick Bostic of Hugo, Colorado, eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Irene (Harold) Dole, Juanita (Bill) Gordon and one brother Delbert (Nancy) Nicks.
She was preceded in death by her parents, infant son, Johnny Lee, grandson, Evan Mauck and daughter, Joan Bostic.
