Obituary of M. Marguerite Foster
M. Marguerite Foster was born November 3, 1919 to Nettie Lou Dilbek and Benjamin Franklin Mitchell. She was one of the oldest of 12 children, including her twin brother Melvin. She grew up in Hutchinson, Kansas where she helped her mom raise their large family.
She also met and married husband of 58 years Garnet Eugene Foster in Hutch. The two were married on November 12, 1939. Marguerite moved to Hugo Colorado in 1946 where she and Gene Judge raised their two children. She worked as a pool manager and VFW bartender, but was famous as The Avon Lady, which she continued to sell after the age of 80.
She was a member of the Royal Neighbors and VFW Ladies Auxiliary - where she held the title of State President.Marguerite was a woman ahead of her time; strong, independent, elegant and incredibly kind. She enjoyed sports, gardening, baking and working with children and the elderly. Her children, 5 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren were the most important aspect of her life.
Marguerite passed away Monday, June 10 at the age of 93. She is survived by her daughter Jeannie Kinnaman; granddaughter Shawna Engel Fowler, husband John, daughter Emily and son Jackson of Omaha, NE; grandson Jim Engel, wife Tammi, sons Justin and Jared of Atwood, KS; daughter-in-law Guyla Foster of Hennessey, OK; grandson Chad Foster of Hennessey, OK; granddaughter Brit Penington, husband Kyle and son Karter of Oklahoma City, OK; grandson Todd Foster, wife Megan, daughters Briston and Scotlyn of Stillwater, OK; sister Laura Frances Downs of Santa Barbara, CA; and brother Fred Mitchell of Horseshoe Bend, AK.
She is preceded in death by her parents, 5 brothers, 4 sisters, husband Gene, and son Gary Foster of Hennessey, OK .
