Obituary of Alberta Moreland
Alberta May Drommand (McKim) Moreland, 94, of Simla, Colorado passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2013 at the Good Samaritan Care Center of Simla, Colorado.
Alberta was born on April 27, 1919 in Truckton, Colorado to Ernest Leroy and Iva Annice (Spears) Drommond, one of four children. She grew up in the Hanover and Simla, Colorado area attending Widefield and Simla, Colorado schools.
Alberta married Poe Albert McKim in Colorado Springs, Colorado on February 8, 1936 and the couple was blessed with four children. The couple worked hand in hand on the family ranch and farm, milking cows as well as the daily chores with the raising of the children. After 51 years of marriage Poe passed away in 1987. Alberta married J.J. Moreland and the couple enjoyed many years together.
She enjoyed sewing, cooking, working with kids, working in her yard, putting together family history and Simla School history. Alberta was very involved in the community she was a 4-H leader, belonged to the Thunderbird Club, Rebekah Lodge, the United Methodist Church, school board secretary and a PTA officer.
Alberta was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Poe McKim, second husband J.J. Moreland, son Ronnie McKim, sister Wilma Woodard and brother Virgil Drommond.
She is survived by her children; Larry and Karen McKim of Phoenix, Arizona, Sharon and Perry Helton of Simla, Colorado and Sandra White of Centennial, Colorado, ten grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Alberta is also survived by her sister Betty (Dan) Pickenpaugh of Elizabeth, Colorado and sister-in-law Betty Ramey of Sterling, Colorado and many nieces, nephews and friends.
