My deepest condolences go to the family of Jerry Chubbuck.. What a wonderful person he was and such a pleasure visiting with him. I met him on a trip out west and spent almost 3 hours talking with him and joking around. The knowledge he had on everything in the museum was amazing. It was always quiz time, which made my journey more enjoyable.. May you rest in peace Jerry, I am sure heaven is enjoying your company..

I remember Jerry from a road trip that I took in 1996. We pulled into the Wonder Tower on a whim, and the eccentric but affable man showed us around his collection eagerly. My condolences to his family for their loss, and to the prairies of eastern Colorado who have lost one of their most interesting citizens.

My husband and I have been driving across the country twice a year since 2004 and always stop at The Wonder Tower. When we stopped this June, Jerry was not receiving visitors, but we enjoyed a nice visit with Esther, who graciously greeted us at the door. Our hearts were heavy knowing Jerry was not well and there was nothing we could do for one, who did and gave so much for so many. We will honor you, Jerry, by trying to live our lives with grace, joy and love just as you did. I loved many things about Jerry, but what I love and will remember most are his twinkling eyes (especially when he knew he had you stumped), genuine smile and how he always made me feel as though everything was alright in the world. You were indeed a wonder, Jerry, and now you are discovering The Great Mystery. Godspeed, sweet soul and I hope to see you again one day. Wishing Jerry's family and friends much love and strength always, but most especially during this time.

I first met uncle Jerry when I met my dad 6 years ago. Dad was adamant that we would stop and meet he and my aunt up the road a few miles on the way to dinner somewhere.
I had no idea of the adventure that awaited me.
I found my new family to be most genuine and real. Jerry was so gracious to show me the historical attraction that he was taking care of.
It was a really hot day in August and the tower had no air conditioning. Walking up all those flights to the top with my phobia of tight places was enough of a challenge. Jerry went all the way up and even out to the top on a windy day. Not me, he loved it up there he said. Could see for 7 states. I was taking his word for it as my head just peaked out the hole at the top of them.
Jerry had so much love and appreciation in his hobby of collecting that it became his life's work and it showed to me right then as he wavered back and forth in that brisk wind.
If only we all could say we enjoyed the toil that we put into living our life, because it was not work.
Mary Eberhart

Thoughts and prayers to Jerry's family. I have many great memories with my family at the tower museum. I went at least 5 times per year over the past 12 years. I loved bringing friends to meet Jerry and see if they could identify the artifacts he would bring out. The many rocks I bought and traded with him will be cherished. I look at them every day!
