Obituary of Alice Wooley
Alice Mae (Higginson) Wright Wooley, 76, passed away Wednesday, October 2, 2013 in Burlington, Colorado.
Alice Mae was born October 27, 1936 in Denver, Colo. to Cecil Andrew Andy Higginson and Eathel Eva (Campbell) Higginson. Alice Mae was the oldest of 4 children born to this union and was followed by brothers Cecil Andrew Jr, David Gene and Michael Alan. Alice Mae graduated from high school in May 1954 and married the following year to Noble Roy Wright of Littleton, Colo.
In October of 1955, one day before her own birthday, Alice and Noble welcomed their daughter Cynthia Lucille to the family. Three years later brother Alan Noble joined the family. In 1971 Alice went to work for Barnett Lumber Company and there she met James Richard Wooley and the couple married December 31, 1977. Together Alice and Jim shared a love of the lumber industry and successful carriers until they retired in December 1998.
Alice and Jim also shared a second love, the Denver Broncos. Still today they are season ticket holders and members of the Broncos Stadium Club. Throughout life Alice loved dancing, music, spicy food, the Rocky Mountains and getting as many of her loved ones as possible in the house during the Holidays. She also became an avid collector of owls during the 70s and this earned her the titles Grandma Hoo and Auntie Owl that she carried the rest of her days. Alice was also active for many years with the Order of the Amaranth, Columbine Court #15 (formerly Victory Court #2), and belonged to the Englewood United Methodist Church.
Alice was preceded in death by her father Andy and mother Eathel, brother Cecil, son-in-law Rex, nephew Bradley and step-grandsons Eric and Dustin.
Alice is survived by her husband Jim of more than 35 years, brother David Higginson and wife Carolyn, brother Mike Higginson and wife Gail, her daughter Cindy Mangus and husband Jerry, son Alan Wright, granddaughter Heather Hays and fiancé Scott Stinnett, grandson Casey Hays and wife Jasalyn, great-grandsons Tyrell Homm and Wyatt Hays, step children Beth Lile, Brian Wooley and wife Kelley, step- grandsons Jerry Wooley, Devon Hayes and wife Johanna, and step-great-grandchildren Ella , Jenna and Tryston Hayes and Farrah Lile. Alice is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
