Obituary of Milbert Beringer
Milbert Bert Elmer Beringer, 83, a retired farmer of Bethune, CO, died Friday, November 22, 2013, at the St. Anthony Hospital in Lakewood, CO.
The son of John and Elizabeth (Heiser) Beringer, he was born January 20, 1930, in Artas, SD.
After his birth, he and his family moved to St. Francis, KS, where he attended a country school through the third grade. In 1939, they moved to Bethune and he completed the ninth grade in a country school north of town.
On February 14, 1942, Bert lost his parents and sister, Irene, in a car accident. He and his sister, Alma, survived. After the accident, Bert lived with Fred and Hilda Ziegler until 1951. He then worked at Spring Valley Ranch as a ranch hand for two years. In 1953, he took a job with McArthur Implement in Burlington, CO, as a head mechanic working on John Deere Tractors. He then owned and operated Beringer Farms for 42 years. During 9 of those years, he was in the National Guard.
He was baptized on April 6, 1930, in Eureka, SD, and confirmed on April 14, 1946, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Bethune. He was a member of the church since 1939 and including many other committees, he served on the church council for 12 years.
On January 25, 1955, he married Aldene Weiss at First St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Burlington.
Proceeding him in death were his wife in 2001; his son, Curt; parents and sisters, Irene Beringer and Alma Beringer; an infant brother, Elmer; an infant sister, Justina; and brother-in-law, Eilert (Geraldine) Weiss.
Survivors include son, Mark (Ardath) Beringer of Colby, KS and two daughters, Connie (Glenn) Peterson of Greeley, CO, and Sharla Beringer (Dave Siegman) of Bennett, CO; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Elaine (Jay) Morrow of Washington State; two foster brothers, Delmer (Sharon) Ziegler of Bethune and Freddy (Karen) Ziegler of Wellington, CO and numerous friends.
