Obituary of Evelyn Maul
Evelyn Elizabeth Maul, 96, died peacefully in her sleep at the Good Samaritan Center in Simla, Colorado on December 20, 2013.
She was born Evelyn Elizabeth Aggas on October 4, 1917 in West Sunbury, Pennsylvania to James and Bessie (Bartley) Aggas. She was one of eight children who grew up on a small farm and attended the local high school. On October 8, 1938 she married Carl Christopher Maul in Leadville, Colorado.
Evelyn spent all of her adult life on the ranch where Carls family had homesteaded along Comanche Creek in Elbert County. When he passed away in 1987 she moved into Kiowa to be closer to family and friends. She enjoyed gardening, baking, canning and jelly-making and won many prizes at the Elbert County Fair with her products. She was a member of the Kiowa Creek Community Church, the Elbert County Historical Society, the Fondis Community Club and enjoyed going to the Senior Citizens Center in Kiowa.
Evelyn is preceded in death by her husband, Carl, one daughter, Janet Stahm and one great-grand daughter, Melody Glasco.
Evelyn is survived by two daughters; Doris (Leonard) Flageolle of Denver, CO and Carla (Jim) Martell of Kiowa, CO, six grandchildren; Christopher D. (Tish) Stahm, Michelle R. Glasco, Christine S. (Brad) Goetz, Lila Kay (Travis) Stahm, Joseph C. Martell, John B. (Julie) Martell. She is also survived by five
great-grandchildren, one great-great grandson and one sister, Catherine Heeney
