Obituary of William "Bill" Krueger
Burlington, Colorado resident William John Bill Krueger, 76, died February 4th, 2014 in his home.
Bill was born August 22nd, 1937 in Burlington, CO to Oscar and Mary Mahoney Krueger.
He graduated from Burlington High School in 1954. He married Karen Ake on February 25th, 1966.
Bill began his working career at Hasz Drilling immediately after high school.
He was drafted into the Army in 1960 and was assigned to the 1st Infantry Chemical Section in 1961. He remained with this section until his term of service was completed in 1962. During his time in the Army he was the top scoring marksmen in his unit and also received a letter of recommendation from his chemical officer in 1962 highlighting his exceptional traits.
Bill started his career as an electrician with Gordon Campbell Electric Service after returning home from the Army. Later he worked for Les McClain and eventually took over the business, which became known as Krueger Electric where he earned the nickname Sparky. In 1991 he sold his company to Steve Daniel, now known as Daniel Electric.
In retirement, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing (he scored a hole-in-1 three times at Prairie Pines Golf Club), life at the lake and designing stained glass. He also enjoyed following his grandchildren around to sporting events and talking smack on the smack board during Fantasy Football.
If Bill wasnt cruising around town in his Green Machine, he could probably be found on the GSA auction site collecting pocketknives, chairs, corkscrews, and anything else that was a good bargain. He also enjoyed collecting coins and playing a competitive game of Horserace Rummy with the family. (Krueger Rules always applied).
He is survived by his daughter, Lauraina Monday of Pekin, IL; son and daughter-in-law, Aaron and Brenda Krueger of Woodland Park, CO; daughter and son-in-law, Kamille and Donn Witzel of Burlington, CO; daughter Mary Ann Krueger of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren, Amber and her husband Cam Rohner of Phoenix, AZ; Calen and his wife Carly Cole of TN; Brenan and his wife Rachel Cole of UT; Breezi, Sunni and Storm Monday of Pekin, IL; Morgan and her husband Jason Ehtessabian, Mason and Braden Witzel of Burlington, CO; his brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Karen Krueger of Pueblo, CO; his sister, Patricia Pratt of Eaton, CO; his sister, Carol Coons of Hutchinson, KS; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and great grandchildren.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Mary; his wife, Karen; and his infant brother, Robert.
Bill was not only an amazing person, but also an amazing parent and grandparent. Everyone he came into contact with instantly knew of his ornery and genuine personality. He was a very humble, hardworking and selfless man that would give the shirt off his back to anyone. He made an everlasting impact on his friends and family and will be dearly missed.
