Obituary of Norma Bylsma
Norma Bylsma, 90, of Lakewood, Colorado passed away on February 14, 2014 at the Cambridge Care Center.
Norma was born on July 8, 1923 in Genoa, Colorado to Arthur and Dora (Bailey) Howe one of thirteen children born to this union. Norma grew up and attended Limon Public School graduating in 1941.
Norma was an avid reader. She enjoyed gardening and belonged to the Prairie Home Companion readers group. Norma was a ballroom dancer and taught dance for a number of years.
Norma married Kenneth Bylsma on April 4, 1968 in Denver, Colorado and the couple enjoyed 40 plus years of marriage. They enjoyed their farm/ranch taking care of many animals and working the soil. They also enjoyed classical music. Kenneth and Norma worked on a volunteer basis with Colorado Shares for over 20 years. They also volunteered with the Farm Bureau for a number of years.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur Howe and Dora Bailey Howe, and siblings; Minnie Howe, Gerald Howe, Guy Howe, Curtis Howe, Roy Howe, Sylvia Howe Jones and Eula Howe Fisher and one daughter, Linda Lea Wills.
She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Bylsma of Lakewood, Colorado and her children, Jean Shupps, Michael Bylsma, Gary Bylsma and Dory Switzer. Norma is survived by 9 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 4 great, great grandchildren. She is also survived by 127 nieces and nephews.
