Obituary of Joseph "Joe" Clark
Joseph Joe Clifford Clark lived in Hugo, Colorado and was 69 years old at his time of death. Joe passed away at Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs on March 25, 2014.
Joe was born in Hugo on April 19, 1944 to Caroline Elizabeth Beth Logan and Alfred J. Clark, the second of four children.
Joe attended Hugo Public School, graduating in 1963. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy, where he worked as an aviation jet mechanic and flight engineer. On June 12, 1965, Joe was joined in marriage to Diane L. Murphy. To this union four children were born; Terri Lynn, Michael Joseph, Christine Marie and Michelle Lee. During his tenure as a petty officer 1st class, Joe served in Vietnam and was awarded several medals and awards of excellence: Navy Achievement Medal four times, Battle Excellence Medal twice, National Defense Medal, Air Crew Wings, Good Conduct Medals four times and Sailor of the Month, Sailor of the Quarter and Sailor of the Year Awards. After 21 wonderful years in the Navy, Joe moved his family back to his home town of Hugo.
Joe and family resided in the following places: Mt. View, California; Rota, Spain; Beeville, Texas, North Ridgeville, Ohio; and Hugo, Colorado. Wherever Joe lived, his orneriness, sense of humor and ability to make people smile followed him.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents Alfred J. and Caroline Elizabeth Clark, his brother Richard Alan (Rick) and granddaughter Kalline Marie Naso.
Joe is survived by his wife of almost 49 years, Diane Clark, his four children Terri (Vic) Naso of Mustang, OK, Mike (Shelly) Clark of Burlington, CO, Christi (Marc) Hollenbaugh of Karval, CO and Michelle (John) Henry of Thornton, CO. Also surviving Joe are sisters Shirley (Jim) Weiand of Cheyenne Wells, CO and June (David) Hamm of Ridgecrest, CA, ten grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends.
