Obituary of Janis Still
Janis Kay Kindred Still was born on September 17, 1955 in Burlington, Colorado to Duane Burton and Netha Fay (Hansen) Kindred. She was the third child and the much adored little girl with the beautiful red hair that glistened in the sunshine. She passed away at Kit Carson County Memorial Hospital on April 30, 2014.
Janis attended the Stratton Public Schools where she excelled in FHA and 4H activities. She was always very clever and could make even the smallest gift feel like a treasure. She graduated in 1973 and went on to attend Colorado Business College. She was a member of the EUB Methodist church in Stratton and had a close relationship with our Lord.
Janis began her working career with the Burlington Equity COOP, she later moved to Monte Vista, Syracuse, and Flagler. She returned to Burlington. During this time she met the love of her life, Jerry Still. They were married in Burlington on September 13, 1987.
Janis and Jerry had many happy years raising miniature horses, collecting antiques and attending auctions. She always found the positive in any situation, even when failing health took control of their lives she never forgot a holiday or birthday and most of us looked forward to receiving greeting cards that had a smiley face on them.
Janis was the best aunt any child could ask for; attending every sporting event or activity that they participated in. She made scrapbooks and collected trinkets to make them extra special!
She loved helping Jerry be grandpa and loved his children dearly. They were a very special part of her life.
Janis will always be known as the woman with the wonderful smile and contagious laugh; she dealt with a lot of adversities but took each challenge head on and made the best of it. She will be missed.
Janis was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jerry and her step-daughter Misty Still.
She leaves to mourn her passing, her brothers: Dennis (Roberta) Kindred and family, Gary (Mary Anne) Kindred, nephew Brian (Dani) Kindred, niece Bridget Kindred, Kaden and Peyton Kindred, her sister-in-law Connie (Harvey) Korbelik, step-children Lynn Ryan (Jim), Marilyn Zollinger (Bob), Randy (Ann) Still and their families and a host of relatives and friends.
