Obituary of Viola Ackley
Viola Maxine Ames Ackley was born October 18, 1927 in Stonington, Colorado. She got to go home to be with Jesus and her family on June 10, 2014.
Viola married Ronald L. Ackley April 13, 1947. To this marriage three children were born; Verle Ackley, Londell Ackley and Cheryl (Ackley) Greenstreet. They lived in Baca County until moving to Elbert, CO and in 1959 they moved to Simla, CO where they resided until moving to Colorado Springs in 2007.
Violas jobs included switchboard operator in both Springfield and Simla, teaching school before starting a family, and Simla town clerk. Her final employment was Postmaster at the Simla post office until her retirement. Her favorite part of working at the post office was weighing all the babies, especially her grandchildren. Viola loved to play the piano and organ and was most happy when playing for her church.
She is survived by her husband, Ronald Ackley of Colorado Springs, CO., son Londell (Debra) Ackley, Colorado Springs, CO, daughter Cheryl (Don) Greenstreet, Monte Vista, CO, daughter-in-law Sheila (Greg) Hahn, Pocatello, ID., grandchildren, Doug (Vonnie) Darling, Jerrod (Rishay) Ackley, Ryan Ackley, Cade (Mellie) Ackley, Chantelle Ackley, Cory Greenstreet, Donnelle (Mark) Boso, Daylon Greenstreet, Ashley Ackley, and Jessica (Andy) Diaz, 16 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson, a very special sister-in-law, Rita Ames and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Frank and Helen Ames, 6 brothers including her dear brother Delmar Ames, 2 sisters and her eldest son Verle. One sister, Urcel Thompson and husband Chet were Violas guardians after her mothers death.
