Obituary of Franklin Foth

Longtime Burlington, Colorado resident Franklin Foth passed away on June 20, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Society in Goodland, Kansas. He was 89 years old. Frank was born on May 2, 1925 in Hillsboro, Kansas to Fred and Martha (Hadel) Foth. Frank attended school and graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1943. Frank enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served in the Navy Air Corp and saw combat during World War II from 1943 to 1945. He was honorably discharged in 1945. He returned to Hillsboro where he met and later married, Wanona Beltz on July 3, 1947 in Hillsboro, Kansas. To this union two children were born; Ted and Sonja. After the war, Frank grew interested in the telephone and its workings. This passion led him to study its operation. He began his career working for Kansas Bell Telephone, then moved to Colorado to work for Mountain Bell. In all, he spent over 30 years working in some fashion with this profession. The move to Colorado brought many new things for him to explore. He became an avid big game hunter and fisherman, enjoying the unspoiled beauty of high mountain lakes and rivers. He also traveled to Canada to go fishing with his family numerous times and loved teaching his children all he knew about the sport. When he transferred to Kit Carson County with Mountain Bell, a new passion evolved, duck hunting. This hobby lasted many years as he went hunting with numerous family members, and friends, and always had a good hunting story to tell. Later in life, he went back to fishing, taking his kids, grand kids and great grandkids fishing. Even though it was a joy to go fishing with him, they always knew who was going to catch the most fishÂ…. Grandpa. He is preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and one brother, Fredrick Foth. He is survived by his children; Ted (Carla) Foth of Burlington, Colorado, Sonja (Ed) Gerlock of Marble Hill, Missouri, grandchildren; Jeff (Sandi) Owens of Jackson, Missouri, Melanie (Steve) Cielinski of Glenrock, Wyoming, Andy Foth of Walden, Colorado, Chelsey Foth and Lindsey Foth both of Burlington, Colorado, six great grandchildren, one great great grandchild along with three nieces.
