Obituary of Lawrence Gramm
Lawrence William Gramm passed away at the Kit Carson County Memorial Hospital on July 29, 2014.
He was born on Flag Day June 14, 1919 to Gottlieb and Lydia Stutz Gramm on the family farm north of Bethune, CO. He was baptized, confirmed and continued to be a member of the Hope Congregational Church.
He attended the Prairie View Country School through the 8th grade. He then started working on the family farm until he was drafted into the Army in January 1942. He served during World War II and was honorably discharged in November 1945, He returned to continue working on the family farm. Lawrence's interests included his cattle and farming. His usual routine included going to the cattle sales every week. He participated in the local Cattleman's Association and was a Charter Member of the VFW Post #6491.
Lawrence was a very active member of the Cooties. He enjoyed delivering flowered on Sundays to the hospital residents, shut ins and nursing homes and fruit baskets at Christmas.
He was preceded in death by his parents Gottlieb and Lydia Stutz Gramm, brother Loyd and wife Fern, brother Edmund and wife Esther, sister Elma Schaal and husband Ted, brother-in-law Mervin Corliss and nephew Verlin Corliss.
He is survived by his sister Esther Corliss and many nieces and nephews and their extended families.
