Obituary of Marian Jones
Marian Jeanne Jones was born April 25, 1929, to Earl and Ethel (Morrison) Hawkins in Fort Morgan, Colorado. She was born an identical twin, one of seven children. The family moved to Hugo, Colorado, where she graduated from High School in 1947.
Marian and her twin, Mary Bowhan, enjoyed music and often sang together. The family enjoyed music, and, along with their siblings, frequently found their brother playing a guitar or banjo singing. The family enjoyed playing music together at family gatherings. In their teenage years, Marian and Mary worked in the Hugo drugstore, many happy memories of their times together there have been recounted by friends and family.
Marian married David Sauer and had three children, Mike, Joan and Margaret. The two separated and Marian married Paul Jones of Limon, Colorado and lived on his family ranch south of Limon. After retirement, Paul and Marian moved to the western slope of Colorado to Olathe. After Paul’s passing, Marian returned to Colorado Springs, CO and lived at the Mt St Francis Nursing Center in Colorado Springs where she was well loved and cared for by the MSFNC staff, family and friends until her passing.
Marian never knew a stranger, her life was filled with the next opportunity to visit with friends, “fix someone’s hair or give them a perm”, and sharing a meal. She had a compassionate nature, strong opinions, tenacity and a belly laugh that was contagious. Marian enjoyed fishing with her husband Paul in the mountains, riding horses, going elk or deer hunting and was most often found in church singing in the choir or as a soloist. The church and its family of friends was a cornerstone in her life.
Marian was well loved and will be missed by her family and the many friends she made throughout her years in Colorado. Marian is preceded in death by her parents, husband Paul, and four of her siblings, Mary Bowhan, Roger Hawkins, Helen Wiedenfeld, and Lucille Igou.
She is survived by siblings Hazel Jensen and Dorothy Garlick, children Mike Sauer, Joan Klein, Margaret Sauer and her eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
