Obituary of Sam Wickham
Samuel Paul Wickham, 69, of Hugo, Colorado passed away on September 15, 2014 at the Lincoln Community Hospital in Hugo, Colorado.
Sam was born on August 18, 1945 in Denver, Colorado to William McKinley and Lorris Ida Agnes (Sloan) Wickham one of three children. He grew up in Flagler, Colorado where he graduated High School in 1963. He went on to college in Greeley, Colorado for a short time. Sam enlisted in the United States Army in 1963 serving his country through 1966, completing two tours of duty in Vietnam.
Sam married Karen Jean Shamburg in Burlington, Colorado on June 21, 1975 and the couple had two children; Robert and Samantha. The couple raised their family in Limon and Hugo where Sam worked construction, was a truck mechanic and of late the Maintenance Supervisor at Lincoln Community Hospital.
Sam enjoyed life in a small community where everyone you met was a friend or soon would be. He had many interests; Sams favorite passion was the Broncos, he never missed a game, fishing, traveling, stamp and post mark collecting and he had quite an extensive coin collection. He was also very active in the V.F.W. and held many posts with the organization. But the love of his life was his family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Karen and his parents; William and Lorris Wickham.
Sam is survived by his children; Robert and his wife Leah Wickham of Camp Lejeune, North Carolina and Samantha and Mitchell Heimlich of San Diego, California and his six grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers; Orris (Alice) Wickham of Cheyenne, Wyoming and John (Sandi) Wickham of Woodland Park, Colorado.
