Obituary of Loris A. Hooks

Lori Hooks, 79, passed away peacefully in her home in Aurora, Colorado with her daughter, Sabrina, by her side. Lori was born on April 18, 1944, to her parents Hardin and Estle Sinclair in Dodge City, Kansas. She grew up in Arriba, Colorado and graduated from Arriba High School. After graduation she pursued her education at the University of Colorado at Boulder. She moved to Florida where she worked on the space program at Cape Canaveral and met her husband, Jerry Hooks. They relocated to Alabama where they had a daughter, Sabrina. Lori continued her education at Brevard Junior College earning her bachelor’s degree from Rollins College. She completed her education at the University of Alabama at Birmingham attaining a master’s degree in education. She worked as a Special Education teacher in Burlington, Colorado and finished her career with Denver Public Schools. Lori was also an active member of Kappa Kappa Iota, a national teacher’s sorority. Lori loved her family, her dogs and the Denver Broncos. Every Sunday in the fall she could be found on the couch cheering on her beloved Broncos, through good times and bad. She is preceded in death by her parents, Hardin and Estle Sinclair, her siblings Donna Roberts, Phil Sinclair, Joleen Norman, Bobbie Sinclair, Carol Chapman, Linda Ostrander and her cherished granddaughter Kaitlin Hooks. Lori is survived by her daughter, Sabrina Hooks, many nieces and nephews and beloved pets. Services will be held at Love Funeral Home, 225 F Avenue, Limon, Colorado. The viewing will be at 10:00 am with service beginning at 11:00 am.
